For Spring Summer 2012, Nike proposes a visual remix of some of their classics and heritage shoes by applying fresh and vernal flower prints, from the famous Liberty.

It was something new for us too, when the reporter Xander Philipps from the radio station Berliner Rundfunk 91.4 came to our ‘Tower’ and asked for a quick, spontaneous interview with Jan, the initiator of the lipstick project TOR. The only thing Xander needed for his work was a globular looking microphone, without any wire. The outcome sounds very good, please hear here for your self!

It took almost two years and sweat-inducing discussions to crate the ultimate lipstick colour! TOR is a lipstick curated by men, for women to wear and to be kissed. All the men involved, we call them ‘Uslu’s Eleven’, share those qualities: straight, like girls, live or work on Torstrasse, are friends of Jan.

MOMENTUM | Berlin is proud to announce the launch of SKY SCREEN, a new non-profit public video art space bringing international museum quality art to the streets and skyline of Berlin. MOMENTUM, in association with Uslu Airlines and St. Oberholz, invites you to Look Up. What you will see in Rosenthaler Platz every night from 22:00 – 04:00 is a world-class program of international video art. Our aim is to turn this thriving intersection at the heart of Berlin’s gallery district into a public art space, one that can start to fill the gap that the Temporare Kunsthalle left behind.

SKY SCREEN will bring Berlin up to date with other leading art capitals, such as Istanbul, Tokyo and New York, which already feature contemporary video art on large public screens. Traditionally shown in the darkened rooms of galleries and museums, video art is now bursting out into the public space through the acceleration of digital technologies. MOMENTUM’s curatorial mission is to bring the best video art from around the world to the public of Berlin. The ongoing curated program changing every 4 weeks will also feature collaborations, sharing content with international video art festivals and biennales.

So come to Rosenthaler Platz and LOOK UP! MOMENTUM will take you on a long distance journey through the best video art from around the world. With sound engineered by Eidotech, sit down at Oberholz, fasten your seat belts, put on your URBANEARS headphones, and prepare for the take-off of SKY SCREEN. The inaugural show will touch down in Moscow with AES+F, launch you down under with Tracey Moffatt and Sumugan Sivanesan, fly you through Korea and New York with Hye Rim Lee, and unleash the best of contemporary Chinese art with Cao Fei and Jiang Zhi from the DSL Collection.

uslu airlines had been asked to make the make up of the whole staff of the W Paris Opéra hôtel for its opening the 29th of march

Organized by La Clique (the agency from André and Lionel Bensemoun, notably known for the très chic clubs Baron) this night was a colorful success! The hôtel was divided in four atmospheres (one for each floors), red lights drama room, gym, wet tshirts, and animated by Djs, live bands and some of our friends such as House of Drama and Andrea Crews. For ou part, Patricia Piatke who went specially from Berlin to Paris to do the makeup did an amazing job for us!

USLU AIRLINES
Von Deutschlands jüngster Friseurmeisterin zur professionellen Fashion-Make-up-Artistin in New York. Das, wovon nicht nur viele Friseurlehrlinge träumen, hat die türkischstämmige Berlinerin Freride Uslu geschafft. Im Alter von 21 Jahren zog es sie für zehn Jahre nach New York, wo sie nach zahlreichen Make-up-Jobs für große Marken und Magazine, wie Duzed & Confused oder Nylon, 2003 zusammen mit ihrem Mann Jan Mihm die heute oft bebloggte Beauty Brand “Uslu Airlines” schuf. Alles begann mit Aribrush-Make-up und dem Lippenstift SAW, der im bekanntesten Concept-Store der Welt, Colette, das erste Mal den Besitzer wechselte. Wenig später folgten 22 Nagellackfarben, noch mehr Lippenstifte und Modemessen. Ein Ende der Erfolgsgeschichte ist nach mittlerweile neun Jahren nicht in Sicht – die zahlreichen Produkte, die jeweils nach den dreistelligen Codes internationaler Flughäfen benannt sind, können wohl nur als saisonale Zwischenlandungen des Berliner Beauty-Überfliegers interpretiert werden.
